About San Francisco Service Day
Presented by the Leadership San Francisco Class of 2025, this one-of-a-kind event celebrates civic engagement and community service across San Francisco. On July 12, 2025, volunteers from all corners of the City will come together to demonstrate their civic pride by giving back through hands-on service with a wide range of local nonprofit organizations. The day concludes with a vibrant evening celebration on the iconic Maiden Lane in Union Square—an opportunity to connect with fellow volunteers, nonprofit partners, and City leaders in recognition of the collective impact we’ve made together.
San Francisco Service Day aims to foster community engagement and enhance the city's well-being through various goals:
Community Building: Encourage residents to connect with one another, promoting relationships and a sense of belonging within neighborhoods.
Civic Engagement: Inspire participants to take an active role in their community, fostering a culture of volunteerism and civic responsibility.
Support SF Nonprofits: Provide essential assistance to local nonprofits, helping them achieve their missions and serve the community more effectively.
Awareness of Social Issues: Increase awareness about the challenges faced by various SF communities, encouraging participants to become advocates for change.
Skill Development: Offer volunteers opportunities to develop new skills and gain valuable experiences that can benefit their personal and professional lives.
Environmental Stewardship: Promote sustainability and environmental responsibility through projects that enhance public spaces, such as parks and community gardens.
Inclusivity: Ensure that the event is accessible and welcoming to all residents, regardless of age, background, or ability, fostering a diverse volunteer base.
Celebration of Community Spirit: Create a festive atmosphere that celebrates the collective effort of San Francisco residents working together for a common purpose, highlighting the importance of community involvement.
These goals collectively contribute to making San Francisco a better place to live through collaboration and shared efforts.
