Strawberry Hill Butterfly Habitat Restoration Project

Time: 10:00am-12:00pm

If you love your parks, and are looking for a meaningful and substantive way to make a positive difference, come on out and volunteer with the Friends of Strawberry Hill and the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department! Volunteers will remove invasive weeds, and put in plant species that Swallowtails and other butterflies need to thrive.

Organization Bio

The San Francisco Recreation and Park Department’s Mission is to provide enriching recreational activities, maintain beautiful parks and preserve the environment for the well-being of everyone in our diverse community.

The 12-acre doughnut-shaped Stow Lake surrounds Strawberry Hill Island, a wooded hill named for the wild strawberries that once flourished on its flanks. Trails follow the shoreline and climb to the hill’s summit, the highest point in Golden Gate Park (GGP) at more than 400 feet.
